Alone with My Thoughts
This is the first image in my thesis project titled Sorry for the Mess. This image starts the series as a representation of what it’s like for people with mental illnesses like anxiety and depression to sit still with their thoughts. You often won’t see them sitting down doing nothing for extended periods of time, because then they are forced to deal with the emotions that are building in their head.
I used high contrast of window light against the dark room to create a feeling of unease. Coupled with the main subject (myself) being shifted so far to the left, the image is supposed to play with your head and make you feel uncomfortable.
