Day 9/365 days of "Unlearning"

Today, a friend needed some time to get out of her house and go for a wander with our cameras. She is a fellow photographer and artist and so we decided to go along one of the walking paths that go through the city of Scranton. And one of the awesome things about the area of Pennsylvania is that it is wet enough that we have quite a diverse selection of mushrooms that grow. I happened to find a log completely covered in these mushrooms here. And had to grab this photo. I am absolutely loving making the choice to only photograph this project with my 50 mm.

The main intent behind this project was to unlearn the rules, not give myself an set parameters on what I would be photographing, and just go find cool things to photograph. But even in just the 9 days i have been working on it, i am realizing that I am photographing an emotion or a feeling throughout all the images. I haven’t yet figured out what it is, but thats fine. It will come with time. For now, I will just enjoy what i am doing and what I am photographing.

Below are more images from today that didn’t make it to the top spot:
