How It All Comes Together

How It All Comes Together Joe Geyer 2022

There is a running belief by those outside of the ADHD community, that ADHD has some inherent "Superpowers." Heightened intuition, creativity, quicker processing "powers." And while those things are a big part of ADHD, for many of us we dont consider them Superpowers. For most of us, these things are we have had to develop to participate "normally" in today's society. More then anything, they are survival tactics that we use for self preservation. If we can process someones intentions before others, we can tell if we are reacting the right way or if we can figure out the end result of something before we start, we know that we can get there and avoid getting screamed at by teachers and family members. We are creative because most of our lives are all above creative problem solving to follow the structures of societies ideas of what normal should be and all doing it without others seeing it because we would be ridiculed for it. Now with all that said, these side effects come in handy. I have always been able to process information faster than most people, I usually guess the endings of most movies within the first 15 minutes, and oftentimes, plot twists in stories are not surprising at all because we have been hyper trained to watch for things that others miss. So this week's photo is a look at the idea of the quicker processing that happens when the executive dysfunction doesn't get in the way.
