Forsythia - The Renewal of Spring Joe Geyer 2022

Forsythia flowers are one of the first flowers to bloom signalling the beginning of spring. he forsythia flower carries the symbolic meaning of forsythia plants is excitement, anticipation, and a new start at the beginning of spring each year. This idea has been sitting in my head for about 2 weeks as I have watched them bloom. I wanted to use them to symbolise what the feeling coming out of seasonal depression feels like. Its as if weights have been lifted off your shoulders and everything its brighter and more hopeful. I wanted to fill the frame with the flowers as almost a flower explosion and then have myself stepping out of the image.

The funny thing about this shoot specifically was that there is not public land near me that has large amounts of these bushes. So I had to basically run and gun these shots. I had to set up my tripod on the side of a busy road on someones private property and try to get these photos without being yelled at or having someone try to steal my camera! I also learned that I have a slight contact allergy to forsythia flowers!
